Lilacs

2013-01-08, 1 Last Friday our administrator at work celebrated an even number and we will celebrate her tomorrow so I wanted to make a card. I deiced to use this beautiful stamp that i got home last week and I just love how it turned out! The colors are just so wonderful with the ribbon.2013-01-08, 2

Even if the card turned out great the evening have been terrible. First my papertrimmer broke- the wire that guides the blade broke and turned to a big ball of fuzz. When i finally found my old one so I could cut the last pieces my adhesive ran out… really not my night…

Sorry for the blurry photos but due to the fact that it’s dark when I go to the job and when I get home they won’t be better then this until weekends or a fairy brings me a new camera:)

Challenges

Deck the Halls

(sorry for the bad quality of the photo but due to winter it’s dark and my camera  just can’t handle that kind of light)

So this weekend I found the time to sit down and play with some papers. Due to Christmas closing in (and I’m totally unprepared so far) I dug out some Christmas-papers and go really inspired. I have to admit that I made this card pretty quickly and I didn’t like it from the start but it really grows on me.

The papers I used is from Echo Park’s collection Very Merry Christmas and I just love the nice colors, they are deep and soft at the same time – and the paper with the ornaments are just so darling. I chose the James Bear from Lili of the Valley to go with my card and i colored him with my copics. The little gift have been paperpieced with the backgroundpapers. I wanted to try to keep some parts white, I usually don’t and I always regret it. So the tinsel is white and i have glittered it with some Martha Stewart glitter and I used the same glitter on the white ribbon. I used a strip of my dubbelsided tape and just glittered one side. I really like how the white glitter ties the card together and the fact that the ”strips” goes in a similar angle as the tinsel. The star is first colored and then coated with yellow stickles. The ribbon is from stampin’ up and i love how easy it is to tie it, i usually use satin and its really hard to get the bows to stay tied- this was easy and really looks soft.

The inside is simple with a ”Merry Christmas”-greeting and some vertical strips of the ornament paper one the sides.

Another thing I have to say is that I love my new scissors! I have tried several small scissors but I don’t think any have been good, they have had a to big tip, been uncomfortable and so one. I decided to try the stampin’ up one and I’m truly in love! It’s easy and comfortable (or as comfortable a pair of scissor can be) and they are super-sharp and are really easy to get into small areas. Just love it! I know I’m a bit over enthusiastic but I think I have to play some tomorrow also (Just found out I’ll be home alone:))

Thank you-cards

So i have finally finished the thank you-cards for the wedding. They all have the same design but there are 5 main color-schemes, which you see above. I like the two at the top best. The black-red one makes me think of candy somehow and the blue-purple one make me think of blueberries:). My least favorite is the one at the bottom but it was my first and i wanted a more masculine feel so it suits it purpose.

I have used the Papertreyink hexagon die and Happy Hexagons stamp and I just love how they turned out! All the inks are Memento. The sentiment ”Tack” (Thank you) is from Vilda stamps.

Inside is a photo from the wedding and a thank you message.

Stamps: Vilda Stamps – Tack. Papertrey Ink -Happy Hexagons Mini Stampset

Die: Papertrey Ink – Hexagon die

Ink: Memento

Masculine beer-card

This card is for a fellow teacher that have found another job. Unfortunately I’m still a bit stressed and exhausted so I can’t say that I’m happy with it, or even making it. But it u´turned out OK. I just wish I made the sentiment more like a tag, creating some life.

The ”splashes” is some water, distress ink and glossy accent. The sentiments is latin and means something like ”We know you will miss your colleague, drown your sorrows”. Due to the sentiments and the fact that the gift we got was beer-glases I did the splashes thinking of beer-drops.

Paper: Echo Park -This and That – Charming

Dies: Distress Ink – Peeled Paint, Mustard Seed, Vintage Photo, Shabby Shutters.

Other: Spellbinders – Nestabilities – Large and small Circle. Glossy Accent

Autumn mice

So this week on Sweet Stampin’ our challenge is Autumn Leaves/trees. I decided to make a card for my grandmother that have hurt her leg. Due to the nature of the card i decided to use this adorable image from House Mouse.

I kept the coloring in classic autumn colors and made the ground dotted to give the feeling of falling leaves. The Image have been distressed with Antique Linen and then a bit with Potters clay. I did keep a white border just to make a contrast. The sentiment on the image means ”you make me happy”.

The papers are just fabulous and I found them the other week which just made me so happy, I think I have to go buy some more:) I paired up the papers with a couple of (whole and pieces) of the Cheery Lynn Flourishes. All the papers have been lightly distressed wit memento bamboo leaves just to hide the white edges. The leaves on the bottom is made with papers from the same collection and is punched and embossed with Nellie Snellen’s Floral punch: Leaf ( the green ones are debossed).

The inside is made to match even if I didn’t embellish as much.

Copic: E13, E11, E21, W1, W3, W5, W7, E39, E35, E33, E31, YR14, YR23, YR21, YR20, E59, E57, YG67, YG63, E07, N3, C0, 0

Stamp: House Mouse – Get well soon – Doctor’s orders. Vilda stamps – Du gör mig glad.

Paper: Reminisce – Autumn Harvest

Baby Blue Little Lorry Bear

This weekend we will celebrate Oskar’s first birthday. Gosh the time flies by but it’s gonna be fun to see everyone again and see Oskar blow his candle for the first time.

A few weeks ago i found this darling papers from Doodlebug and I just loved it (especially the owl-pattern that I didn’t use here). So I wanted to do a really traditional baby-boy-card so I just dug out all the baby-blue things i had, lots of glitter and stars.

The image is from Lili of the Valley and I love how the bear turned out! It makes me happy to look at him. I did place the ”1” on the car to symbolize Oskar’s first birthday. The ”1” is cut in the same blue cardstock as the rest of the card but I colored it with some E43 to dull it down to fit the rest of the image.

The card have been decorated a bit with yellow stickles on some of the yellow dots on the background-paper and the ballon have been coated with some stardust. The ribbon is a regular baby blue satin ribbon that I embellished a bit with a blue button and some green embroidery-thread. The ribbon is not glued down all around and on this photo it have slided down a bit, I didn’t notice when I took the photo and don’t wanna take a new one.

A Vintage Smile

Welcome to another week on the Sweet Stampin’ Challenges. This weeks challenge is Vintage. For this week we have two lovely sponsors: Joanna Sheen wit a  £10 voucher and Crafy Ribbons.

Oh I found this challenge really hard. I have no idea to get the softness that i associate with vintage cards. But after some brainstorming i came of with wrinkly and brown for my card.

I started out with stamping this music background from Hero Arts in Rich Cocoa. I then wrinkled the paper and distressed it with antique linen and vintage photo. I then tore the edges and the scraped them a bit. I wanted to keep the card clean due to the rich colors but it looked so empty i just needed to fill the space in someway so i dug out this flourish-die. The flourish stem is glued down but the leafs i put up a bit with gluedots.

Stamp: CC Design – Amy R Sentiments – Big Words. Hero Arts – Music Background.

Ink: Memento – Rich Cocoa. Distress Ink – Vintage Photo, Antique linen.

Dies: Spellbinders -Shapeabilities – Grommet tags. Cheery Lynn – Fanciful Flourish.

Sentiment as a focal point

Welcome to another week on Sweet Stampin’. This weeks challenge is ”Use Sentiment as a focal point”.

I don’t own that many sentiments that are long enough or lyrical enough to use as a focal, in my liking. But I do own this one from Tim Holtz and I really like it and use it far to rarely. I wanted to play some with my new papers from Echo Park so I ended up with a masculine card.

I got the layout from last weeks Mojo Monday Sketch. I haven’t done a Mojo Sketch for a long time and I had forgot how much I enjoyed them. The red of the papers are bit bit more dull and rust-colored in real life.

The black banner is a bit raised due to the fact that i curled it up a bit with a pen. The stars dimensional. I first adhered the paper to a piece of black foam i had and then cut it out with MFT’s Stacking Stars. I just love how it turned out, I have to to this more often, I think I’ll try some letter next.I did doodle around the edge of the sentiment, it looked far to empty.

The inside is made with the same thought and material. The only exception is that the brads are different,I ran out off the smaller ones like on the front. I also forgot that dimensional stars might not have been the best idea for an inside but it closed good enough.

Stamp: Tim Holtz – Urban Chic

Paper: Echo Park -Note to self

Dies: Spellbinders – Nestabilities – Circle, Pinking Circle. My Favorite Things – Stacking Stars. Nellie Snellen – Lace Edge Border.

Floral Angels

Welcome to another challenge over at the Sweet Stampin’. This weeks theme is Inspired by a Song or Film. Our monthly sponsor with a £10 voucher is Joanna Sheen. And this weeks weekly sponsor is Papelitos Stamps who will give 3 digis for our first place-winner and 1 digi to the second place-winner.

My card is inspired by the movie ”Just like heaven” starring Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo. This is one of my favorite romantic movies, and I don’t really know why. But it’s perfect when you want a romantic one with a hint of sadness:). It’s about a boy that sees a ghost and it turned out that the ghost is girl who is in a coma. When i saw the clouds of this adorable stamp I just thought about this movie. Entangled in the plot is a garden and it was the garden that inspired my papers for this card. The blue-ish paper that i used also has an floral pattern, but it’s tone on tone with glossy details.

The Stamp is from Papelitos Stamps and is called Angels Love. I really like it, it’s just so cute, but i have to admit I’m a bit disappointed due to the resolution it it. I did print it fairly small but I can see pixels which I don’t like.I tried something new when i Colored the hair. Both the girl and the boy is based on the Cool Grays, but the girl have a base-layer of green, and the boy has one in blue. i really like how different it turned out.

The papers is from KaiserCraft and I bought this paperpack due to the floral paper long ago and just thought it would be perfect. The layout is inspired by this weeks layout over at the Sketch N Stash.

To accompany the card I also made a tealight-box. The though from the beginning was to make a tealight-card but I actually ran out of cardstock and couldn’t find a matching one downtown so it became a card and box instead. The box has an acetate-window that have been embossed with my swiss dot embossingfolder, but It might be a bit hard to see. A long time ago i made myself a template for the tealight-card so I did use this measurements for it.

The inside is made but it’s fairly regular so I didn’t get a photo.

Stamp: Papelitos Stamps – Angels Love. CC Design – AmyR Sentiments – Big Words & Handy Sentiments.
Copic: R29, R27, YG25, B02, C6, C8, C10, E93, E11, E51, B0000, B00, R20, R22, 0, C0, C2, Y15, Y13

Earthy Sympathy Bugs

I have for a long time wanted to use the Sympathy Bugs from Wee Stamps, but every time i start out coloring I have to put them aside to complete another project. But finally I used them. This card is for a fellow teacher at my school that turned 50 last week. But this Monday we will celebrate her so I volunteered to make the card.

I colored the bugs to match this beautiful papers from Basic Gray’s collection Cappella. I just love the feminine tone of the papers and the patterns, without it getting to girly. All the papers have been inked with Memento’s Rich Cocoa, I also sew around the edges with a cream thread. I still haven’t gotten the hang of the sewing. I doesn’t get straight and i have a hard time to see when I should stop at the corners, but i could cover up the worse mistakes. I used this weeks sketch from Sketch Saturday and jazzed it up a bit. The sketch is very like how i start out most of my cards, and also very similar to the one I did for Theo last week so I tried to add some interest by not letting the lower part go all the way to the bottom.

To frame my bugs I used the Lacy ovals from Spellbinders. The bugs are actually colored on a separate piece that I then cut out and glued onto the oval. I really like how the wings got dimension like this, they don’t just go outside the frame, they also goes up a bit. The edge of the oval have been distress with Antique Linen and paper pierced.

I have embellished the cards with one of the corner-treatments from provocraft’s vintage die and some brads from my stash. The decorative edge at the green paper is made with the my edgeabilities; the border is from the classic triple scallop and the insert is from the classic Ric Rac. The bow is tied as a Nellie knot and the button on top is from the basic gray set Hello Luscious. The sentiments or rather the letters are from Quickutz’s alphabet harvest. On the bugs antennas and the wings I added some diamond Stickles, and on the flowery puffs I painted with some pearl Glimmer Mist so add some glitter and glimmer.

The inside is made with the same papers and the same idea, just switching up the colors a bit.
