Teal birthday mice

 2013-02-02, 1

So today is my mothers birthday so I have been making a card during the week. Sense she also loves House Mouse I did one with a teal/turquoise feeling to it.

After it’s finished I have to admit it’s probably more my taste with the dark contrasts but I think she will like it anyway. The photo is a bit off, my camera-battery was out so it’s taken with my Iphone.

All the edges of the paper and of the image have been distressed with Evergreen Bough. The cupcake-paper have been paperpieced with the same teal paper as I use in the background, but it looks a lot darker due to all the shading I did on it. All the papers are from Basic Gray’s Hello Luscious collection.  The image have been colored with Copics but I forgot to write them down but The mice is cool gray and warm gray, the frosting is E40-E43 and the skin is my usual mice combination of E13, E11 and E51 (or 21).

As embellishments i have used the Jumbo snowflake from My Favorite things. I have been 2013-02-02, 2dying to use it (got it as a Christmasgift) and I just love the look of it. The tull-looking layer is something I got from my friend Marie. It was in an kind of beige colors and looked an awful like stockings. I colored it with some black ink and I like how it turned out but if you touch it it will give of color, which explain all the smudges all over the card. The sentiment is written in my handwriting and I bothers me a lot but it’s handmade and my mom have to love all I do (fortunate for me).

The inside follow the outside a bit but is keep very clean due to the fact that I’ll have to write inside what her birthday gift is.

Challenges

Earthy Sympathy Bugs

I have for a long time wanted to use the Sympathy Bugs from Wee Stamps, but every time i start out coloring I have to put them aside to complete another project. But finally I used them. This card is for a fellow teacher at my school that turned 50 last week. But this Monday we will celebrate her so I volunteered to make the card.

I colored the bugs to match this beautiful papers from Basic Gray’s collection Cappella. I just love the feminine tone of the papers and the patterns, without it getting to girly. All the papers have been inked with Memento’s Rich Cocoa, I also sew around the edges with a cream thread. I still haven’t gotten the hang of the sewing. I doesn’t get straight and i have a hard time to see when I should stop at the corners, but i could cover up the worse mistakes. I used this weeks sketch from Sketch Saturday and jazzed it up a bit. The sketch is very like how i start out most of my cards, and also very similar to the one I did for Theo last week so I tried to add some interest by not letting the lower part go all the way to the bottom.

To frame my bugs I used the Lacy ovals from Spellbinders. The bugs are actually colored on a separate piece that I then cut out and glued onto the oval. I really like how the wings got dimension like this, they don’t just go outside the frame, they also goes up a bit. The edge of the oval have been distress with Antique Linen and paper pierced.

I have embellished the cards with one of the corner-treatments from provocraft’s vintage die and some brads from my stash. The decorative edge at the green paper is made with the my edgeabilities; the border is from the classic triple scallop and the insert is from the classic Ric Rac. The bow is tied as a Nellie knot and the button on top is from the basic gray set Hello Luscious. The sentiments or rather the letters are from Quickutz’s alphabet harvest. On the bugs antennas and the wings I added some diamond Stickles, and on the flowery puffs I painted with some pearl Glimmer Mist so add some glitter and glimmer.

The inside is made with the same papers and the same idea, just switching up the colors a bit.

Flower Power Challenge

This weeks challenge over at the Sweet Stampin’ is Flower Power and our lovely sponsors for this week is My Favourite Things that will give a $25 gift certificate for a lucky winner. Our monthly sponsors is Joanna Sheen with a £10 voucher.

So I have to admit that this card is made in a hast. I have had a full week and the next wont be better from what i can see.

So i wanted to use this adorable stamp from Lili of the valley that I got the other day. I did have a really nice time color it, the only think I’m a bit annoyed with it the Pansies, especially the leaves but hopefully I will do it better next time. I bought this stamp with my mom in mind and i have to make a card for her soon but this ons is actually for my grandmother as a thank-you for the wedding-gift me and Bjorn received a few days ago.

The papers are from Basic Gray’s collection Hello luscious, the yellow button is also from that collection, and the flowers are a punch from EK success.

I have to say that I’m not very happy with the card, there is something off but I’m to tiered to see or fix it and the good thing with Grandparents is that they love all you do!

I have probably forgot something so ask if there is something you wonder about…

Purple Kitty Katastrophe

This Tuesday it’s my baby-sisters birthday and i have been working on this card for quite a while now. I started to colors this like months ago in this nice purple tone. I recently found it just laying around so I deiced to make i for my sister, it’s a very fitting color and image for her. So I did the last coloring, like the hair, to suit my sister even better. The haircolor I chose I one that i think mimics the color my sister have right now. The frame for Kitty is made with nestabilities small labels and i started out with a white paper and then distressed with weathered wood. I do now own this stamp, I stamped up a couple on my copic-course in September so I have two left I think.

Anyway, i did use this weeks Sketch Saturday-sketch for my layout and i tried to keep with the purple tones from the coloring. The purple papers are from Maja Design’s collection ”Ska vi ta en fika?” and the gray paper is from the Little black dress collection. All the papers have been distressed with either Dust Concord or Weathered Wood.

The top embellishment is a black satin ribbon that i tied some knots and the bottom one is a border made with Martha Stewart’s borderpunch Modern Garland. The butterflies are some fabric butterflies in pink and blue that I made black with a permanent marker and just stapled on. They have a bit of the shimmer of the old color which gives them a nice depth. The greeting is using some alphabet-pearls from Panduro that i glued in place with some glossy accent.

The inside is made with the same paper and idea as the outside and I left a nice big space for the greeting.

A Brown Forestdragon

So this weekend is my dear friend Martin’s birthday so i wanted to make him a card. He, as I, love dragons and this cute one landed in my mailbox a week or so ago. His name is Autumn Happiness and are from Wee stamps.

The dragon is as usual colored with copics and i cut him out using the Large deckled rectangles nestabilities. I didn’t want to make him the regular green dragon but i still wanted to get him a feeling of wood and nature sense that is what Martin is all about, so he became brown. I inked the inside lightly with the Dandelion memento ink. I backed him onto some Basic Gray paper, from the Origins collection. The sentiment is from Gina K’s Garden Silhouettes. The ribbon I used was from the beginning a white satin-ribbon but i colored it with E37 to make it match the dragon. The stars I used are from a die-cut-sheet and i cut them out and colored the white backside with the Rich Cocoa memento ink. All the edged have been inked with memento to make the transition smoother.

A Flirty Nordic Edward

So i decided to get my creative juices flowing so i looked through some of my colored images and looked around the net for some inspiration and i found something good. Tammy made this beutiful edward-card and i really loved how she used the colored rick racs and i wanted to make a similar one. Mine ended up very similar but I’m still happy about it.

I started out with die-cutting my Edward (the one i colored on my copic-coarse) with nestabilities small labels. You can’t really see it on the card because i thought it looked a bit to simple and small so i put the ribbons over the edges instead. My ric rac’s are med with the Classic Ric Rac edgeabilities. The greeting is the Swedish word for ”Congratulations” and are from Vilda Stamps. For the greetings banner i used the Wonky Rectangles Wonky Nestabilities to make the v-cut. Both the background and greeting is colored with Warm Gray copics.

A New Year and top 7 from 2011

Happy New Year to everyone!

So I decided to make top 5 of my cards i made the last year. And i will try go get better ones during this year. This is also my way of playing around now when I’m away from home:)

So after looking at the cards made last year i realized that i couldn’t keep it to only 5 so i had to come do a top 7 instead. So here is my top 7 (in no specific order)

Holly Jolly Deer

A Micely Cupcake for my grandfather

Fruity fun on Hello Luscious

I Got my Mojo back

Disney’s Mickey and friends

Masuline Train

A House Mouse Graduation-card

A Forest-Christmas-Card

(I’m once again sorry for the bad quality of the photos but in Gothenburg it’s either dark from storms or night right now so it’s a bit hard with the lighting)

So today i have had an entire free day and I’m feeling healthy and alert so i deiced to make a card for my baby sister.

Last week I went to Borås with my sister and mother and Tina said that she really wanted a card with Squirrels. And fortunately for me i stamped a couple of the squirrels and the deer from the Greeting farm when i was in Kumla om the gathering.

So i colored the squirrels with copics. I tried to get a textured acorn i do think i succeded, but im not very happy with the dark squirrel so i guess it evens out:). The image is mounted on a nestabilities oval and label 18.

The Color Throwdown Challenge

The papers that are used a from Basic Gray’s Nordic Holiday, except for the woodgrained one that is from the Life of the Party collection. I knew that i wanted to go with a green and brown theme to get a forest-feeling, but after checking in on this weeks Color Throwdown Challenge i through in the bown-pinkish paper also (It feels less fink and more sueded in RL i think).

The layout is made from this weeks Sketch Saturday and i did embellish the card with some brown fuzzy brads and some smallpinecones i found on my way from work one day (mohaha, me collection stuff doesn’t always turn out with me throwing things away). The sentiment is From You Do and says ”Happy Christmas” in swedish, strange phrasing for us also but i really like the font. The greeting is framed with on of spellbinders ribbontags.

Sketch Saturday Challenge

This weeks Simon Says Challenge is a photo-inspiration and i really got stuck on the green ornament with the white tree:)

Soft Teal/Red House Mouse

So for a day or two ago i started making a card from this weeks Midnight Madness sketch, due to the fact that it’s House Mouse that sponsors it.

I haven’t been able to stop flipping through Basic Gray’s Hello Luscious paperpack and i deiced to use the small print on it. I have loved this paper for a while but i have been a bit intimidated when i have been unable to see a nice match straight away but i do think i succeeded now.

The main stamp is from House Mouse’s set Birthday: Balloon and the sentiment is from the set Spring: Dip. The image is as usual colored with copics. I Have tried to make some long-furred mouses lately but I’m not that happy with these ones.

The ribbon that goes across the card on the top half is an adhesive lace-ribbon that i bought the other day from Panduro. It was a pack with cream-colored ribbon and laces. I really like it but it bothers me a bit that the adhesive strips shows underneath the lace on some of them.

Copic: R39, R29, RV34, V000, E00, E21, E51, E11, E40, E41, N7, N5, N3, N1, C2, 0, E35, E33, E31

Papers: Basic Gray’s Hello Luscious

Stamps: House Mouse set Birthday: Balloon & Spring: Dip

Other: Antique Linen Distress Inks, Spellbinders Labels 8 and ribbon tags trio.

Second golf-card

So here is the second golf-card i made. I used the same image as the first card.

This card is made using this weeks Mojo Monday and papers from Basic Gray’s collection Life of the Party. It is suppose to be a birthday card for a man so i thought this papers were just perfect! I especially love the gifts on the small paper.

Copic: E00, E51. E21, E11, 0,E29, E49, E07, N1. N3, N5, N7, E31, E35, E37, YG17, YG13, YG11, RV34, RV23, RV21, C10, C8, C6

Papers: Basic Gray’s Life of the Party

Stamp: Reprint’s Text-set

Other: Spellbinders oval and scalloped ovals. Broken China distress Ink.
